The Cardinal & Cream staff from Union University received the “Best College Magazine” (1st place) award, among others, at the 2019 Southeast Journalism Conference.
As the Editor-In-Chief and Creative Director of Union University’s print and online publication Cardinal & Cream for the 2018-19 academic year, I led, as well as contributed to, the online news site and the production of two magazines from the inception to release date of each. The magazines were funded by Union University and available free of charge to the community; they contain in-depth stories featuring beloved members of the community, meaningful discussions on relevant issues, interview-style articles, photography, illustrations, poetry, fiction and comedy.
I’m deeply grateful to my editorial staff whose ideas, talents and commitment to the publication and to each other made both print magazines (available below) a joy and an overwhelming success. In addition to receiving positive feedback from faculty, staff, students and members of the community, Vol. 103, Issue 01 of Cardinal & Cream was awarded “Best College Magazine” at the 2019 Southeast Journalism Conference (SEJC). I’m also grateful to my professor, mentor, friend and my favorite writer, Ted Kluck, whose advice and guidance made our efforts and subsequent results possible in the first place.
